Jupiter Nova Skills and Training Academy respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and your rights under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 ("POPIA").

Information you give us

When you use the enquiry form or contact us, we may receive your name, email address, telephone number, whether you are a learner, employer or partner, the programme you are interested in, and the contents of your message. The form on this website prepares an email in your own email application. The information is only sent to us when you send that email.

Information collected automatically

This website does not use advertising or analytics trackers. Your browser stores your cookie choice on your device so that we do not ask you again on every visit. The company hosting the website may keep standard technical logs (such as IP address and browser type) for security and operation.

At enrolment

If you enrol with us, we will collect further information, such as identity details, contact details, educational background and assessment records. This is done under a separate enrolment process, and you will be told what is collected and why.

3. Why we use your information

to respond to your enquiry and give you information about programmes;
to process enrolment, deliver training and assessment, and keep learner records as required by the relevant accreditation and regulatory bodies;
to communicate with employers, partners and other stakeholders who contact us;
to keep the website secure and working;
to comply with legal obligations.

We process your information because you have consented, because it is needed to respond to your request or perform an agreement with you, because the law requires it, or because it is in our or your legitimate interests. We only collect what we need, and we do not sell your personal information.

4. Who we share it with

We share personal information only where necessary and with appropriate safeguards:

accreditation, quality assurance and regulatory bodies (for example SETAs, the QCTO and SAQA) for learner registration, assessment, certification and reporting once you enrol;
employers or placement partners, where you ask us to or agree to it;
service providers acting on our behalf, such as website hosting and email providers, who may only use the information to provide their service to us;
authorities, where the law requires or permits disclosure.

5. Cookies and third-party content

When you first visit, we ask whether you accept or reject non-essential cookies.

Essential storage: a small item saved in your browser that records your cookie choice.
Third-party content: our Contact page includes a Google Maps embed. It only loads if you accept cookies, and Google may then set cookies and process your data under its own privacy policy. If you reject cookies the map does not load, and the rest of the website works normally.

You can change your choice at any time using "Cookie preferences" in the footer, or by clearing your browser data.

6. How long we keep your information

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected, or longer if the law or the requirements of regulatory and accreditation bodies require it (for example, learner and assessment records). When it is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it.

7. Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against loss, damage and unauthorised access. Please note that no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure. If a breach affects your information we will notify you and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.

8. Transfers outside South Africa

Some of our service providers, such as email or hosting services, may store information on servers outside South Africa. Where this happens, we take steps to make sure the information remains protected as POPIA requires.

9. Children

Some of our learners are under 18. A parent or guardian must consent to us processing the personal information of a child. If you are under 18, please involve your parent or guardian when you contact us.

10. Your rights

Under POPIA you may:

ask whether we hold personal information about you and request a copy;
ask us to correct or delete personal information that is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete or unlawfully held;
object to the processing of your personal information;
withdraw your consent at any time (this does not affect processing already done);
lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator.
